St. John’s Point is at the end of a narrow finger of a peninsula which extends into Donegal Bay, just of the N56 from the village of Dunkineely.
Prior to reaching the Point you will find a small beach called the Coral Beach - the sand is almost pink. From the beach you can walk to the lighthouse where if you look south you experience spectacular views across Donegal Bay call the way to Mullaghmore in County Sligo or north across McSwynes Bay to the port of Killybegs.
The waters around the lighthouse at St. John's Point is very popular with divers and reputed to be some of the clearest diving waters in Europe.
About half way from the point to Dunkineely a recommended stop is Castlemurray House where the restaurant is highly recommended.
